Tofu is known for its versatility, its mild taste that readily absorbs the flavors of other components in a recipe, and its plant-based protein. There are a number of different "firming agents" used to make tofu out of soybeans. For this particular variety, we use nigari, a naturally occurring component of seawater (also known as magnesium chloride), to "firm" the tofu. Trader Joe's Nigari Silken Tofu is smooth, soft, mildly sweet, and easy to use for all kinds of preparations. And because it doesn’t require refrigeration until after it's been opened, you can keep it in the pantry for when the inevitable tofu craving strikes. Make a stir-fry, some soup, a tofu "burger" or whatever else satisfies your tofu cravings.
