Rabbit Trick Syrah
October 9, 2012 - Fearlessly Archived - Still a fun read, price & availability may have changed.
This is a wine that showcases the very best of what California has to offer, viticulturally speaking, that is. Rabbit Trick California Syrah is a 100% Syrah blend from several different California appellations – that's why it's labeled "California," rather than a particular geographic appellation. By blending specific amounts from specific regions that impart specific characteristics, they created a wine that's a specifically spectacular sipper.
Nearly half of the grapes come from wineries across several of California's inland valleys. The cool, afternoon ocean breezes cool the vines, giving the grapes intense white pepper and plum flavors. About 30% of the grapes hail from the Central Coast, where all-around cooler temperatures contribute a spice-floral character. The remaining grapes come from the San Joaquin Valley, known for it's very warm climate, give the blend its meaty, ripe blackberry-blueberry flavor. Put them all together and you get a complex, densely flavored Syrah that pairs well with sharp cheeses like our Artisan Reserve Vermont Cheddar, and entrees like Chicken Pot Pie.
Getting a wine this good for $5.99* a bottle is pretty magical experience. But don't delay – we have a limited quantity, and like the rabbit in the trick, it's bound to disappear quickly.
*Rabbit Trick Syrah is currently available in Trader Joe’s West Coast stores where wine is sold for $5.99: AZ, CA, NM, NV, OR, TX, WA. Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff. (If we could, we would.)
