Premium Wild Salmon Burgers
April 30, 2012 - Fearlessly Archived - Still a fun read, price & availability may have changed.
Sometimes a burger is just a burger, and sometimes it’s so much more. Trader Joe’s Premium Salmon Burgers most definitely fall into the “so much more” category. We’ve carried salmon patties in the past, but over time we saw room for improvement in our existing product. So we set out on a Mission: Improvement. It was harrowing, and involved tasting a good number of salmon patties there weren’t, shall we say, um, well, good. And then the skies opened up, the light shone down, and lo and behold, we found these. Okay, more accurate reporting would reveal that when we told this particular supplier exactly what we were looking for, they sent us these, but really, where’s the fun in that story?
And why are these so special? They’re made with wild pink salmon fished from the icy cold waters of Alaska. The fish are fully skinned and deboned, then gently tossed in a light mirepoix seasoning (the classic combination of carrots, celery and onions) with a touch of sea salt. They are then formed into patties and quick frozen – this locks in moisture and super salmon flavor, resulting in a truly sensational, mild-tasting (read: never fishy), flaky burger. You don’t even need to thaw them; they
can be grilled from frozen with excellent results. Serve them on burger buns with all the traditional burger accoutrements, atop a garden salad or as the center-of-the-plate for a protein-rich, Omega-3 packed meal.
We’re selling each 12.8 ounce box of four Premium Salmon Burgers for $5.99,
a great value, every day.
