Cream Cheese Alternative

Cream Cheese AlternativeFebruary 6, 2012 - Fearlessly Archived - Still a fun read, price & availability may have changed.

Our new Non-Dairy Spread cream cheese alternative tastes about as much like actual cream cheese as anything dairy-free we've ever tasted. There are big brands out there that are also vegan and free of dairy. Ours is different. For one thing, we don't use any hydrogenated oils, sugar or artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Most of the big brands do. Ours is made with coconut oil, sunflower oil and soy protein—and we add calcium to give the nutritional profile a boost. Ours is cultured for 24 hours, a time and labor-intensive process that really replicates not only the flavor, but the creamy texture of real cream cheese. In other words, it's tart & tangy and not at all chalky,
with a smooth, spreadable sensibility.

Use Trader Joe's Non-Dairy Spread anywhere you'd use cream cheese. On a bagel or a sandwich with jam, with smoked salmon and Golden Rounds Crackers or as the base for a sweet or savory dip. We're selling each eight ounce tub for $2.49. You'll find it in our cheese case.
