T J's Petit Reserve Meritage Paso Robles 2014

T J's Petit Reserve Meritage Paso Robles 2014

September 25th, 2017—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Meritage, which rhymes with “heritage,” and not “fromage,” is an American wine that’s made in the Bordeaux style. Its blend must include two or more of the “noble” Bordeaux varieties, and none of those varieties can make up more than 90% of the wine. Trader Joe’s Petit Reserve Meritage Paso Robles 2014 is a blend of Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown in the Bordeaux-like climate of the Paso Robles AVA (American Viticultural Area). With hot days and cool nights, Paso Robles produces grapes with intense varietal character – that character displays itself delightfully in this wine.

This Meritage is dry and full-bodied, with aromas of raspberry and oak. The flavors begin to reveal themselves with ripe red fruits, and evolve on the palate with complex notes of spicy peppers. Try it with a steak or burger hot off the grill, topped with Unexpected Cheddar. We’re selling each 750ml bottle for $7.99*, a price that (sort of) rhymes with wahoo.

*TJ Petit Reserve Paso Robles Meritage is currently available in Trader Joe’s stores where wine is sold. It is $7.99 plus tax. Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff.
