Unsweetened Golden Oolong Tea
Fun food fact: all tea that’s actually tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. How it is delivered to you depends on when it’s harvested and how it’s processed after harvest. For example, for green tea, the leaves are wilted, and not oxidized; for black tea, the leaves are wilted, generally crushed, and fully oxidized. And oolong tea falls somewhere in between black and green – the leaves are wilted and partially oxidized. As it happens, oolong makes terrific iced tea.
It also happens that Trader Joe’s now offers a delicious, ready-to-drink Unsweetened Golden Oolong Tea. It’s a bright, golden tea with flavor to match – pleasantly floral aromas deliver a slightly toasty, almost sweet taste on the tongue. As you might expect, it’s stronger than green tea and a bit milder than black. We’re selling it in a 16.9 fluid ounce bottle that so delicious it shouldn’t take you oolong to finish the whole thing. (Are we forgiven if we recognize the awfulness of the pun yet couldn’t resist?) We’re selling Trader Joe’s Unsweetened Golden Oolong Tea for $1.19 a bottle, a price that’s also hard to resist.
Ingredients: Water, Oolong Tea, Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C to maintain color).
