There is a misconception in the world of fresh pasta that we’d like to clear up here and now. It doesn’t have to be expensive. There. We said it. If you peruse the refrigerated case at most markets, you’ll see plenty of fresh pasta, and it’s all overpriced. There. We said it again. Moreover, most of it doesn’t even taste very good. Ooh, watch out… we’re on a roll.  And now, for the really important part… Trader Joe’s fresh pastas are not expensive, and they taste really good. Take that in for a moment. Ah… feels better, right? You’ll feel better once you try Trader Giotto’s Cheese Tortellini. Each bite-size piece is generously filled with a savory blend of ricotta, Romano, and Parmesan cheeses. Its flavor is robust enough to stand on its own, with no sauce at all, yet also shines with a touch of olive oil, cream or red sauce (try our Three Cheese Pomodoro Sauce). This is also an excellent choice served cold, as the star of a pasta salad. Serve it at a brunch or barbecue – your guests need never know you paid a mere pittance for the pasta at the salad’s center.

About that price. We weren’t joking around when we said not expensive. We never joke about such things. We’re selling each 10 ounce package of Cheese Tortellini for $2.29, every day. We’ve looked around, and we don’t think you’ll find a better everyday value on fresh, filled pasta.  You’ll find it in our refrigerated case.

Filling: Ricotta Cheese (pasteurized whey/milk, vinegar, salt), Grated Romano Cheese (pasteurized part skim milk, cheese cultures, salt, microbial rennet), Grated Parmesan Cheese (pasteurized part skim milk, cheese cultures, microbial rennet, salt), Bread Crumbs (wheat flour, yeast, sugar, salt), Garlic, Salt, White Pepper, Basil, Nutmeg, Anti-caking Agents (corn starch, dextrose, potato starch, calcium sulfate, natamycin [for freshness], enzyme).
