Persian Cucumbers

Persian Cucumbers

June 5th, 2017—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Sweet & Seedless

Despite their nomenclature, Persian Cucumbers are thought to have originated in India (and more than 3,000 years ago!) – they are, however, staples of Mediterranean cuisine. Small – four-to-six inches in length – sweet and seedless, these cukes feature skins that are so thin and delicate that they have the same great flavor and texture with or without the skins. The upside to that? No peeling required. Ever. The other upside? They’re commonly known as “burpless” cucumbers; that benefit is self-explanatory.

These are wonderful sliced over a salad of Butter Lettuce and Heavenly Villagio Marzano Tomatoes, or chopped and combined with rice vinegar and red onion for a quick cucumber salad. They’ll also add crunchy texture to a veggie pocket sandwich with Hummus.  Chop them finely and blend them with plain yogurt, lemon juice and herbs for a quick and vibrant dressing.  Or slice them and dip them into our Artichoke Jalapeño Dip. Really, you can use them anywhere you’d use ordinary cucumbers – the results will simply remind you how delightful our Persian Cucumbers are. We’re selling each package of approximately 5-6 cucumbers for $1.99.  You’ll find them in our fresh produce section.

*Ounces, price and availability may vary by region. Currently Trader Joe's Persian Cucumbers are $1.99 in our West Coast stores, and $2.49 in our Texas, East Coast, Midwest and Southeast stores.
