Korean Style BBQ Sauce
There was a time, not too terribly long ago, that when you went searching for barbecue sauce at Trader Joe’s, that’s what you found – one single, solitary option. In modern times (that is, today), we have an actual selection of barbecue sauces for your enjoyment. That selection may change with the seasons, so when you see an interesting option, grab it, try it, then come back and grab some more while you can.
One of our most interesting options is Trader Joe’s Korean Style BBQ Sauce. Like any barbecue sauce worth its weight in bulgogi, Trader Joe’s Korean Style BBQ Sauce is both sweet and savory, with a kick. It gets its subtly-fruity sweetness from pear purée and sugar; its deeper savory flavors from soy sauce and garlic; and a bit of heat (but not too much) from gochujang—a spicy, fermented chili paste. We also add sake, a bit of ginger, and a splash of lemon juice concentrate to add further facets to its flavors. The end result is a BBQ Sauce that is bold and dynamic, with just the right amount of heat.
Use our Korean Style BBQ Sauce as a glaze for grilled meat or chicken. Brush it onto salmon fillets. Toss it in a stir-fry or employ it as a dipping sauce. We’re selling each 19 ounce bottle of Korean Style BBQ Sauce for $2.99 – two whole dollars less than we’ve seen for similar sauces elsewhere. You’ll find it in our grocery aisle.
