Vegetable Spring Rolls

Vegetable Spring Rolls

June 5th, 2017—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Last year, we introduced our Chicken Spring Rolls. In the summertime. People questioned our commitment to seasonality. There was chatter in the streets. And then folks tasted the spring rolls, and understood that delicious food has no season, and that spring rolls are as delicious in summer as they would be in spring. Now that it’s spring, we’d like to share information about summer rolls.

Nah, just kidding. We want to tell you about more spring rolls – Trader Joe’s Vegetable Spring Rolls, to be specific. These are made by the same company that makes the Chicken version, and the two share many important characteristics. Each wrapper is filled with a blend of carrots, kale, edamame, shredded tofu, and cabbage. Our supplier is committed to making Spring Rolls that maintain their crunch – soggy Spring Rolls will not do. To that end, they centrifuge the cabbage before adding it to the veggie mix. This spin-dry process separates as much water as possible from the cabbage, leaving it crunchy. When heated, the paper-thin, wheat flour wrapper transforms into a delicate, light, crunchy shell, the ideal package for the full-flavored veggie filling that lies within.

We’re selling each nine ounce box of five Vegetable Spring Rolls for $3.99, an impressive value you’ll find only in the freezers at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s.
