Sriracha Seafood Potstickers

Sriracha Seafood Potstickers

June 5th, 2017—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

You can cover up an error by hiding the evidence; or else, you can make a parade of your mistake, proudly exclaiming, “I meant to do that!” The inattentive chef behind the legend of Chinese guotie (literally “pot-stick”) chose the latter when he accidentally burned the Emperor’s dumplings. Having forgotten the batch he was cooking on the stove, he flaunted his failed dumplings burnt-side-up before the Imperial Court, proudly touting his new recipe. He lived. And like dumplings to a pan, the idea stuck.

All of Trader Joe’s dumplings/potstickers/gyoza are inextricably part of this legacy, but make no mistake – Trader Joe’s Sriracha Seafood Potstickers were no mistake. They were thoughtfully developed with intention and hard work by our team and our Thai supplier. Each Potsticker starts with chunky pieces of shrimp and crab meat, generously seasoned with our favorite Sriracha sauce. This spicy mixture is combined with mung bean (aka “glass”) noodles and crunchy water chestnuts to provide some additional texture. Cilantro, mustard powder, and white pepper round out the flavorful filling, which is then carefully swaddled in a delicate, orange-hued wrapper made with wheat flour and colorized with carrot juice and red chili flakes.

Pan-fried, steamed, or even microwaved, Sriracha Seafood Potstickers provide a savory-spicy snack that works as a side-dish for soup, as a dim-sum component, or even as a spur-of-the-moment nibble between meals. We’re selling each 7.6 ounce box of twelve Sriracha Seafood Potstickers for $3.99. That great price is no error—just authentic value; something Trader Joe’s provides, intentionally, everyday! You’ll find these in our freezer case.
