Soft Handmade Pretzel
By most historical accounts, pretzels, in one form or another, have been around since the early 7th century. Trader Joe’s, in one form or another, has been around since the mid-late 20th century. Over the course of our shared history, Trader Joe’s and pretzels have come together more times than the historical record can remember. What history does note is that when we do pretzels, we do them well – we know that may sound immodest, but we like our pretzels, so excuse our boldness.
The newest pretzel to pop up on our shelves is Trader Joe’s Soft Handmade Pretzel, found individually wrapped in our bakery section. It’s a traditional soft pretzel, hand-twisted in the classic Bavarian style. Directly out of the wrapper, it’s soft, with just a bit of chew. It’s good. Want it to be great? Here’s what we do: pop it in a 350ºF oven for 3-5 minutes. That simple act not only warms the Pretzel, it adds a bit of crunch to the exterior, and makes the chewy interior more or less irresistible. You want more irresistible? We like to add a little more salt. Before you put it in the oven, give it a quick spray of water and dot it with coarse sea salt. With or without salt, our Soft Handmade Pretzel is delicious dipped in mustards and cheese sauces, or spread with your favorite nut butter.
With or without dips, whether heated or not, Trader Joe’s Soft Handmade Pretzel is an excellent value, at $1.99 for each 7.5 ounce, six-inch wide Pretzel. You’ll find it on our bakery racks.
