Cinnamon Stars Cookies
It seems that for as long as we’ve sold cookies during the holiday season, we’ve sold traditional German cookies. Always distinctive in flavor and texture, they remain hits, year after year. Pfeffernüsse, Lebkuchen, Stollen (okay, technically a cake), and now, Cinnamon Stars, known in German as Nuss-Sterne. Cinnamon Stars are nut-based cookies, packed with almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts. They’re firmer and a bit more dense than their Lebkuchen cousins, with pronounced cinnamon flavor, and a subtle hint of lemon.
Cinnamon Stars are terrific treats to present at tea time, or when afternoon guests drop in out of the blue. A cup of strong coffee is always a good partner. The six-pointed-star shaped cookies are generously frosted with a sweet and tangy icing. Each 5.29 ounce package is $2.99 and contains about 12 cookies. You’ll find them on our shelves with the other holiday cookies, while they last.
