Beet Hummus

Beet Hummus

January 4, 2016—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Yes. Beet Hummus. This is a thing. And this is a thing with which you should familiarize yourself, especially (though not exclusively) if you're a die-hard fan of these raging red root veggies. You see, Trader Joe's Beet Hummus is loaded with beets and beet juice, as well as more traditional hummus ingredients like garbanzo beans and tahini, and the beets' natural sweetness really shines in this recipe, adding an exceptionally intriguing complexity to the Hummus' flavor. And since beets are so good for you, and we're very much in favor of getting them into your diet, we definitely think this is a good thing.

Due to the presence of both beets and beet juice in this recipe, the Hummus presents a rich red hue. It stands out on a party platter, whether surrounded by vegetable crudités, chips, or wedges of pita bread. It's a delicious substitute for mayo on a sandwich. It's also a delicious value, at $2.29 for each seven ounce tub. Trader Joe's Beet Hummus is being made exclusively for us, and you won't find this recipe anywhere else. It's in our refrigerated case with our other hummuses. (Hummi?)
