Cubano Seasoned Wrap - East/Midwest/West

October 11, 2011 - Fearlessly Archived - Still a fun read, price & availability may have changed.

¡Ay Caramba!

We've taken the classic Cuban sandwich, also known as the Cubano, and wrapped it all up with a bow.  Well, okay, no bow. But we did wrap it up, and it does come in a handy little sleeve for easy transport, so that's something, right?

A Cuban sandwich, in case you're not yet acquainted, has long been popular in South Florida, where many Cuban immigrants have settled since the early 20th century.  Over time, due to migration of both people and foods, this simple-yet-unique sandwich has made its way across the country, and now it has made its way to your neighborhood Trader Joe's, in the form of an easy-to-eat wrap.

Trader Joe's Cubano Seasoned Wrap has all the hallmarks of a traditional Cuban:  roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese and sliced dill pickles.  In place of the traditional sliced bread, though, we've rolled it all together in a flour tortilla with a Cuban-inspired mustard dressing.*  Each 10 ounce Wrap is $3.99, every day.  ¡Ay caramba! Indeed!

*Regional Note: In our West Coast and Midwest Cubano Wraps the Cuban-inspired mustard dressing is served on the side (for dipping). Since we like to keep our freshly prepared products fresh, we source them as close to our stores as possible, and this can lead to slight variations in recipe (mustard spread versus mustard dip), size or price.
