Autumnal Harvest Pasta Sauce and Penne Pasta
November 9, 2015—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
If only it were possible to capture the flavors of fall, bottle them up in a jar, and take them home with you. If only you could pour them over a bowl of pasta, or bake them into a veggie lasagna, or use them to dip everything from Zucchini Fries to Whole Wheat Butternut Squash Gyoza. If only reality were as satisfying as fantasy. "If only" no more, because Trader Joe's Autumnal Harvest Pasta Sauce has arrived, and it satisfies on all of these levels.
Autumnal Harvest Pasta Sauce is a tomato-based sauce that's richer, creamer, sweeter, and savorier than its typical tomato brethren. Its secret weapon? All those flavors of fall, incorporated here to delicious effect. Pumpkin, butternut squash, and carrots add sweetness and thicken the sauce; a touch of cream makes it creamier; and herbs and spices like rosemary and sage lend a savory finish. We recommend Autumnal Harvest as a suitable substitute for any other tomato-based sauce for pasta dishes, a variation on chicken parmesan, or for dipping. What pasta is best? Of course, that's a very personal question, but if pressed, we'd recommend Trader Joe's Penne, made for us in Italy and available on our grocery shelves in a 16 ounce package for a mere 99¢.
Autumnal Harvest Pasta Sauce is only on our shelves during Pumpkin Season, so this is one of those rare occasions where hasty action is encouraged. In other words, don't be left with "if only" when Pumpkin Season is over. We're selling each 25 ounce jar for $3.49. You'll find it in our grocery aisle.
