Gluten Free Rolled Oats

October 11, 2011 - Fearlessly Archived - Still a fun read, price & availability may have changed.

For some people, gluten-free is a fad.  For others, it's a way of trying to eat a little more healthfully.  For a large number of people, people with celiac disease, gluten-free is an absolute necessity.  Celiacs (see-lee-acks) cannot digest gluten, which is a naturally occurring component in many grains – wheat, barley and rye among them.  In recent years, the options for a gluten-free diet have expanded exponentially, though it can still be a struggle to find great-tasting options in some food groups - breakfast cereal is one of these areas.

Trader Joe's Gluten Free Rolled Oats make gluten-free breakfasts not only easy, but wonderfully delicious, too.  Most oats & oatmeal are naturally free of gluten – oats do not contain gluten.  Because of where many oat crops are grown (adjacent to other grains that do contain gluten) and how they are processed & packaged (in facilities that also process things like wheat), it's not so simple to label oats as gluten-free.  Our Gluten Free Rolled Oats are, in fact, 100% gluten-free.  They're grown from pedigree seed and our supplier controls every step of the production process, from the fields to the mills and the packaging to the transportation.  They are a good source of fiber, whether you're using them to make oatmeal or oatmeal cookies.  And of course, like all foods with the Trader Joe's name on them, they're free of artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

We're selling each 32 ounce bag of Gluten Free Rolled Oats for the excellent everyday price of $3.99.  You'll find them in our cereal section.
