Long Live Liberté Cabernet Sauvignon

$9.99 for an impressive, compelling, Paso Robles-grown Cabernet Sauvignon? Liberté  Cabernet Sauvignon, a Customer and Crew favorite, has the "how do they do this?" mystique. Not to go all mythbustery, but this bottle exemplifies the business behind the discovery of Trader Joe's wine.

Liberté  Cabernet Sauvignon was born out of our partnership with a Paso Robles winery, who farm their own vineyards. A while back now, they approached us (apparently as fans?) with a Petite Verdot that became one of our first and incredibly successful Trader Joe's Reserve Wines. We were off to a good start. Giving the winemaker-humble by nature (well known for taking the time to nurture the next generation) and visionary by trade (grounded in the practice and driven to experiment)-liberty to try new things, the opportunities have proliferated.  Perhaps the most iconic and prolific example is our Liberté Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a big, bold red with rich fruit character and firm, yet supple tannins. Liberté commands.

The grapes in this bottle benefit from Paso Robles' dramatic day-to-night temperature swing and a long growing season, as well as a year aging in French and New American oak. Our allegiance allows the growers/makers to dedicate blocks of production exclusively to this wine, ensuring that they are farmed to the highest standards. And that results in consistently impressive bottles of wine, from vintage to vintage. It also has the effect of efficiency, leading to lower costs, which we gratefully pass on to our customers. That's why Liberté Cabernet Sauvignon is only $9.99*, when it could easily fetch $20. Long live Liberté!

* Liberte Cabernet Sauvignon is currently available in Trader Joe's stores where wine is sold. It is $9.99 plus tax unless otherwise noted here: OH: $13.99. Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff.
