Cold Pressed Juices
February 2, 2015—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
Cold pressed juice is everywhere these days. And by everywhere we mean primarily at trendy, hipster-inhabited juice bars. We're cool with that. We're decidedly lukewarm about the high prices we've paid for cold pressed juice, though. Rather than skip it altogether, we were inspired to make our own, and working with a juicy supplier, we've developed Trader Joe's Cold Pressed Juices, proof that you can bottle goodness, and goodness can be long-lasting.
Trader Joe's Cold Pressed Juices are just that, 100% juice blends made with fresh fruits and vegetables, with nothing else added. The juice you'd buy at a local juice bar has a very short shelf life - even in the fridge, it will only last for a few days. Our supplier uses a process called high pressure processing (HPP), which utilizes cold water and very high pressure (about equal to the pressure that you'd find at an ocean depth of 37 miles, if in fact the ocean were that deep) to seal in freshness without heat or added preservatives. It's pretty cool. And it means our Cold Pressed Juice stays fresh, and retains its valuable nutrients, for up to 30 days after bottling.
But what about the juice itself? Is it worthy of it’s $4.99 price? Oh. Yes. We have three varieties, known simply by their colors: Green, Red, and Yellow. Green is a blend of kale, spinach, apple, cucumber, celery, lemon, and ginger. It's slightly tart and verily vegetal. Red blends beets, cucumber, celery, apple, carrots, spinach, ginger, and lemon. It's rich and earthy with a sweet-spicy gingery finish. And Yellow is a sunny combination of apple, pineapple, yellow bell pepper, cucumber, lime, and mint. Citrus and a refreshing minty kick will be your takeaways here.
No matter which Trader Joe's Cold Pressed Juice you choose, you'll enjoy the taste of freshly-pressed juice, conveniently located in the fridge at your neighborhood Joe's, at the very neighborly price of $4.99 for each 15.2 ounce bottle.
