Pontificis GSM Blend

GSM? What? Gravity Science Matter? Well, yes, but, no. Good Salads Monday? Sounds like a plan, but, no. Ghouls Skeletons Mummies? Appropriate for Halloween, but not for this wine. Here, GSM is a traditional French blend of three wine varietals: Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, brought to fantastic fruition in each bottle of Pontificis that you'll find at Trader Joe's.
Pontificis is crafted in France, from grapes grown in the Southern Rhone and Languedoc regions. It's 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 20% Mourvedre, a stellar blend that produces a smooth, moderately dry, deep purple hued wine with notes of blackcurrant and raspberry. A sip reveals hints of black pepper and tobacco, and finishes with a suggestion of vanilla, leading to soft, velvety tannins. This is an excellent food wine, shining with strong cheeses, our Cabernet Pot Roast, or baked pasta dishes. It's also an excellent value, at $6.99* for each 750ml bottle.
