Pumpkin Spiced Pumpkin Seeds
October 6, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
Pumpkin bread and pumpkin butter. Pumpkin ice cream and pumpkin soup. Pumpkin bagels and pumpkin cream cheese. We're deep into pumpkin here, people. Pumpkin in every corner of the store, in products from the expected, like, say, pumpkins, to the entirely unexpected, like Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s. But what of the venerable pumpkin seed, once celebrated as the prize within the gourd, yet now seemingly relegated to the background? We say it's time to celebrate the seed once more, and we've given it a dazzling new treatment to give it an opportunity to shine, once again, in the spotlight.
Trader Joe's Pumpkin Spiced Pumpkin Seeds are hulled pumpkin seeds (also known as pepitas) that are roasted the traditional way, with a big twist. Rather than the usual adornment of salt, these are treated to a butter-sugar toffee glaze, and seasoned with traditional pumpkin pie spices—cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice. They're crunchy; they're sweet; they're savory. Most of all… they're entirely different! And the seeds do shine! Non-scientific testing in our offices revealed big seeds (about half-an-inch long or longer) with big crunch and big flavor. Grab a handful from the bag, sprinkle them over a salad, or serve them with a seasonal cheese like our Creamy Toscano Dusted with Cinnamon. Go seeds!
We're selling each eight ounce bag of Pumpkin Spiced Pumpkin Seeds for $2.99, for as long as we can keep them in stock. You'll find them in our nut and dried fruit section.
