Persimmon Salad

Persimmon Salad

October 6, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Ooh, this is very exciting. A new salad has arrived in our refrigerated case in celebration of the fall season, and we are very excited. Why all the excitement? Ooh, let us count the ways… First of all, because it's a fresh new combination of flavors. Secondly, because it's yummy. And maybe most of all, because it features one of our favorite fall fruits, the persimmon.

Specifically, for this salad we've employed the bright, sweet flavors of the fuyu persimmon, known for its autumn hues: orange-red skin and deep golden flesh. In botanical parlance, this fruit's genus, Diospyros, translates roughly to food for/of the gods. We'll agree with that. In this presentation, atop a bed of smooth butter lettuce and barely-bitter kale, their color shines and their flavor bursts. And speaking of bursts, we've added some additional flavor bursts with the addition of creamy chèvre, along with crunchy almonds, and pumpkin & pomegranate seeds. Finished off with a tart & tangy pomegranate sherry vinaigrette dressing, this is a salad that presents the season's subtle hues and evokes the freshest of fall flavors. We're selling each 7.3 ounce Persimmon Salad for $3.99, every day. You'll find it in our refrigerated case.
