Toasted Pumpkin Seed Oil
October 6, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
We have found the mother lode! Yes, friends, Romans, countrymen… there is, in fact, a pumpkin product that is not exclusive to Pumpkin Season! Sure, we're telling you about it here, in the seems-like-a-Pumpkin-Party edition of the Fearless Flyer, but Trader Joe's Toasted Pumpkin Seed Oil is something we've had in our stores since May, and something we intend to keep around even after Pumpkin Season has taken its annual hiatus.
This Oil's story begins in Austria, home to the Styrian Hulless Pumpkins. The hullless seeds from these pumpkins are toasted, then cold-pressed to extract the viscous, dark green oil that lay within. It's a beautiful sight to behold, and its aroma is pure pumpkin seed. Toasted Pumpkin Seed Oil's low smoke point makes it ideal for unheated preparations like salad dressings—pair with pungent ingredients like ginger and garlic. It will add a new dimension to marinades, and can be drizzled over grains like rice or barley, swirled atop a bowl of soup with a dollop of crème fraiche, or even sprinkled over ice cream with a few Pumpkin Spiced Pumpkin Seeds for an unexpectedly ethereal treat.
We're selling each 250ml (8.45 ounces) can of Trader Joe's Toasted Pumpkin Seed Oil for 9.99, an exceptional value—we've seen similar products selling for upwards of $15! You'll find it in our grocery aisle.
