Trader Joe's Pumpkin Butter doesn't actually contain butter, but it does have a distinctively rich, butter-like consistency. That richness is partially attributable to its fruit-pulp-to-sugar ratio, which by definition is higher than that of jam or preserves. Our supplier makes this seasonal treat for us by cooking pumpkin purée slowly, in small batches, with sugar and spices, allowing the spices plenty of time to marry with the pumpkin. Our Pumpkin Butter is smooth and light with opulent flavor and mouth feel. In fact, it tastes much like pumpkin pie, though there are no eggs or cream in this spread, and thus no fat. Shocking, really, once you've tasted it.
How should you use Pumpkin Butter? The possibilities are limited only by your imagination - here are just a few ideas to get you going. Heat it and pour over Pumpkin Ice Cream and top with Pumpkin Spiced Pumpkin Seeds for a pumpkin sundae. Spread it on toast, waffles, bagels, English muffins, or biscuits for breakfast. Make a peanut butter and Pumpkin Butter sandwich. You could also take equal parts Pumpkin Butter & cream and heat, stirring well, to create a creamy pumpkin sauce to serve atop tortellini or our Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli.
