Roasted Mashed Sweet Potatoes
October 6, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
Pucks. Disks. Flattened orbs. Inside each bag of Trader Joe's Roasted Mashed Sweet Potatoes, you'll find all of these things. And yet, the pieces look the same. Each puck, disk, and flattened orb is made of one, simple, natural ingredient - sweet potatoes.
Trader Joe's Roasted Mashed Sweet Potatoes are simply that: Covington sweet potatoes grown in the American south, roasted to caramelize their natural sugars, and mashed until they're nearly - but not quite—smooth. Once they're mashed, they're formed into ____________ (pick your favorite aforementioned noun—it's like culinary Mad Libs!) and frozen. That's it. Nothing is added. Just sweet potatoes, picked at their peak, cooked to perfection.
You can, of course, enhance them if you wish. Because they're fully cooked, they're easy to incorporate into casseroles or pies (ooh, sweet potato pie…). They're good for fritters or a dessert brûlée. You could even make a mash-up of mash - pair them with our frozen Mashed Potatoes or a homemade mash of carrots, turnips, or cauliflower. These sweets are an excellent value, no matter how you choose to enjoy them. We're selling each 18 ounce bag of Roasted Mashed Sweet Potatoes for $2.49. You'll find them in our freezers.
