A Pumpkin Season Tradition
One of the original harbingers of Trader Joe's Pumpkin Season, Pilgrim Joe's Pumpkin Ice Cream is a stalwart signal that the time for all things pumpkin is at hand. And mouth. This particular ice cream has been the subject of much desire - we think that's partly because it's by far the best Pumpkin Ice Cream we've ever tasted, and partly because you can only get it for a few short months each year. Perhaps there's truth to the whole "absence makes the heart grow fonder" thing after all.
Pilgrim Joe's Pumpkin Ice Cream is made with nearly 20% pure pumpkin puree, 80% super premium ice cream and a blend of warm, seasonal spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and a hint of cloves. That's well over 100% of smooth, rich pumpkin creaminess. It really is super premium: it has only 25% overrun (that's the amount of air whipped into ice cream), making it richer and denser than most other ice cream you'll find in grocers' freezer cases. As always, we only carry Pumpkin Ice Cream during Pumpkin Season, so as the season fades, Pumpkin Ice Cream will make way in our freezers for other frozen treats meant for other seasonal celebrations. And as always, it represents a terrific value at $3.99 for a one quart container, the same price as last year. And the year before that, and the year before that, too.
