Toscano Cheese with Cinnamon
October 6, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
Toscano with Cinnamon has the nutty flavor of aged Parmesan and the creamy texture of farmstead Cheddar. Each young wheel of cheese is generously coated in cinnamon—as the cheese ages, the cinnamon gently infuses the cheese, creating a singular flavor profile. It's not overtly cinnamon-y; rather, there is a subtle hint of cinnamon that really complements the sweet, nutty flavor of the cheese. Try it on crackers—stellar with the Pumpkin Cranberry Crisps—or with fruit, or make a quick hors d'oeuvre by laying thin slices atop baguette pieces and heating under the broiler for just a couple of minutes.
We're selling Trader Joe's Creamy Toscano Cheese Dusted with Cinnamon for the excellent everyday price of $7.99 a pound. This is a terrific price for this stellar cheese made by true artisan cheesemakers in the dairylands of Wisconsin. We've had it cut in random-weight pieces of about eight ounces each, so you can get your hands on a piece of this distinctive formaggio for about $4, which somehow makes it even more appealing. You'll find it in our cheese cases throughout the fall season.
