Belgian Butter Almond Thins

Belgian Butter Almond Thins August 18, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Trader Joe's Belgian Butter Almond Thins are made for us by a family company in Belgium that's been producing biscuits like these for more than 20 years.  They're made with simple ingredients - flour, sugar, butter, almonds, salt, sodium bicarbonate (that's baking soda) - and crafted using a combination of traditional methods and modern baking know-how.  The dough is rolled into a baguette-shape, sliced very thin and baked at high temperatures, resulting in thin, captivatingly crispy cookies that are terrific at tea time (or coffee time, if that's more your thing) and make an excellent companion to ice cream, whether served alongside or crumbled on top.  Each 7.05 ounce box, with about 48 cookies, is $2.79, every day, which makes them an excellent companion to a frugal budget, too.
