GladiolusAugust 18, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Derived from the Latin word for "little sword", and sometimes called "sword lily", Gladiolus flowers are not swords at all, but rather beautiful flowers (with leaves that perhaps resemble the shape of a sword).  Ideal for this End of Summer Guide, Gladiolus is the birth flower (yes, there is such a thing) for August - you definitely should treat yourself to a lovely bunch if you have an August birthday.

At Trader Joe's, we're selling big, beautiful bunches of Gladiolus in a variety of colors, including orange, pink, purple, and red, among others.  They're grown for us in California and Michigan (where yours come from will depend on which Trader Joe's you visit), and we think our price will grow some glad for your wallet.  The price will vary slightly depending on where in the country you find yourself - no matter where you are, you can count on a glad-making value, every day, at your neighborhood Trader Joe's.

*Stem count and origin may vary by region. Currently Trader Joe's Gladiolus are $3.99 in our stores East Coast and Midwest stores, $4.49 in our Southeast stores and $5.99 in our West Coast and Texas stores.
