Organic Tomatoes on the Vine

Organic Tomatoes on the VineJune 9, 2014—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Our Organic Tomatoes on the Vine, known as TOVs in the tomato biz, are descendants of a Dutch variety that was discovered to grow in even clusters of four or five pieces of fruit (yes, they are fruits, not veggies). This particular variety is high in the antioxidant lycopene and a good source of potassium. They ripen on the vine, so they're especially sweet and juicy, much like tomatoes you'd grow in your own garden.

These tomatoes grow to a uniform size, making them ideal for sandwiches or salads, and excellent in an Insalata Caprese with our Fresh Mozzarella Log. Really, though, you can use them for things that don't require uniformity, too. Chop them for chunky salsas, blend them into gazpacho, or slice them in half, drizzle with olive oil, and grill, cut-side-down (use a grill pan indoors or a veggie tray on your outdoor grill to prevent a big 'ol mess) - cooking tomatoes brings out even more lycopene, so go ahead, cook away! These TOVs will add personality and a new POV to your tomato appreciation activities, a.k.a., eating.

We're selling each 16 ounce package of Organic Tomatoes on the Vine for $3.49. You'll find them in our fresh produce section.
