Chicken Asada

February 3rd—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Though typically presented as a beef dish, Carne Asada, we've also had great success with asada (literally "roasted", colloquially "grilled meat") in the form of chicken, specifically our Pollo Asado.  Most folks cook both our Carne Asada and Pollo Asado on a grill, and since February is not generally the most appropriate time to set those coals a'fire, it's the perfect time of year to bring home a package of Trader José's Chicken Asada, a fully cooked, ready-to-heat-and-serve version of this marinated chicken dish, complemented by sliced vegetables.

Chicken Asada is a flavorful, colorful, satisfying option for lunch or dinner.  Chicken breast meat is marinated in a vibrant blend of pineapple juice, garlic, chili powder and coriander - this combination gives the chicken a bright, citrus-y vibe with a kick of Southwestern-style spice.  The chicken is grilled, then paired with sautéed strips of poblano peppers (mild chilis), red bell peppers and onions.  Heat for just a few minutes and you have the makings of mighty burritos, phenomenal fajitas, tremendous tacos or the center of the plate with accompaniments like rice or pasta.

We're selling Trader José's Chicken Asada in 15 ounce packages for $5.99 each, every day.  You'll find it in our refrigerated case.
