Pomegranate Seeds

February 3rd—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

From the Latin for "seeded apple", pomegranates are among civilization's oldest-known fruits.  With origins in Southwest Asia, pomegranates are now cultivated in hospitable climates around the world.  Lucky world.

Back to that "seeded apple" root.  Clearly, pomegranates are shaped like apples, but you sure don't eat them the same way.  When you eat an apple, you generally discard the seeds.  With pomegranates, the seeds, or arils, are the delicious prize, the reward for breaking through the tough exterior and staining your hands (and perhaps your clothes, carpets, and furniture).  Trader Joe's Pomegranate Seeds are just that - the seeds - removed from the rind and ready to eat.  They're a bit crunchy, naturally sweet and loaded with antioxidants - enjoy them as a snack, spoon them over yogurt or ice cream or add them to salads.  We're selling them in a 5.3 ounce container for $3.99 - now that's a prize!
