Gluten Free Mac & Cheese

February 3rd—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Herein lies the completion of our quest to become the Mac & Cheese capitol of the world.  We have mac & cheese you mix up yourself (that's in the grocery aisle, and there are a few good options there), we have our revered, fully loaded Joe's Diner Mac & Cheese, our Reduced Guilt Mac & Cheese, and our irresistible Mac & Cheese Bites.  But what of our gluten free friends?  We just didn't feel it was right to leave them out of the party any longer.  And so Trader Joe's Gluten Free Mac & Cheese was born.  And it was good.  And it is good.

What's in the box is simple, really.  It's rice pasta (a combination of both white and brown rice) with a creamy, cheesy, oh-so-craveable cheese sauce.  That's it.  The pasta is cooked al dente, so it retains a good chew and isn't mushy, as some gluten free pasta can be.  Unlike our Reduced Guilt option, this is not a low calorie or low fat alternative.  It's rich and decadent and has everything you love about real mac & cheese - except gluten.  Cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, butter… this is the real thing.  And we're selling it at a really good price - just $2.99 for each 12 ounce box.  You'll find it in our freezers.
