10 Petits Fours

January 8th—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

The literal translation of petit four from French to English is "small oven".  In practice, a petit four is a small pastry and can be either sweet or savory.  We developed Trader Joe's 10 Petits Fours with sweet in mind, knowing that bite-size desserts are always welcome at holiday (and other day) gatherings.

We think Trader Joe's 10 Petits Fours will be most welcome in your house anytime the yearning for something sweet strikes.  Each piece is a small architectural masterpiece:  white cake with a decidedly Euro flavor profile (think Amaretto-almond-marzipan), raspberry filling, creamy filling, more raspberry filling, and more white cake.  The tiny cube is enrobed in either white or dark chocolate, and drizzled with chocolate of the opposite color.  Each box contains five dark chocolate pieces and five white chocolate pieces.  They're sweet and flavorful, and once defrosted, taste as fresh (or fresher!) as any petits fours you'd buy at an upscale bakery.

Serve 10 Petits Fours as the star of your holiday meal's dessert course, with coffee or tea to complement their sweetness.  Or treat your family for no reason at all -- we're selling them for the excellent price of $5.99 for each nine ounce box of 10, so you can keep them in the freezer and be prepared for when you find yourself yearning…
