Brie en Croûte

January 8th—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

Literally translated to "Brie baked in a pastry crust", Trader Joe's Ready to Bake Brie en Croûte is nearly just that.  We have left out the baking part, because we've determined that it looks better and it tastes better if you do the baking part at home.  So inside the box you'll find a wheel of double cream Brie encased in an unbaked, deliciously flaky pastry crust.  It's frozen, preserving its freshness until you're ready to bake and serve it.

And the baking and serving part?  A snap.  Simply remove it from the package, place it on a foil or parchment paper-lined baking sheet, and bake in a preheated oven (375º) for 35-40 minutes.  It's just that easy, and it makes an impressive presentation on your table.  Add sliced apples or pears, Fig Butter, or Dried Turkish Apricots to include a little sweet with the savory goodness.  Want to put a little more work into it?  We figured you might.  Follow the package directions to add toppings like preserves, nuts, dried fruits, brown sugar, sun dried tomato pesto…

No matter how you serve it, Trader Joe's Ready to Bake Brie en Croûte is an elegant addition to your holiday table.  We're selling each 12 ounce package for $6.99, an elegant value you'll find only at your neighborhood Trader Joe's.  It's in our freezer case.
