Beef Tenderloin Bites

January 8th—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

An all-time favorite for holiday meals, it's clear that Beef Wellington has earned its place among culinary cognoscenti.  What's not particularly clear is how this classic dish earned its name.  Some say it was named in honor of Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington, as a tribute to the role he played in the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte.  Others claim it simply originated in Wellington, New Zealand.  What we do know is that Beef Wellington is rich, delicious, and always at home on a holiday table.

Trader Joe's Beef Tenderloin Bites transform this normally labor-intensive dish into bite-size pieces that deliver everything there is to love about Beef Wellington.  We start with perfectly cooked pieces of aged beef tenderloin, top them with a traditional duxelles -- a combination of diced mushrooms, onions, shallots, cream, and sherry -- and wrap them up with flaky puff pastry.  You just pop them in the oven, heat, and enjoy.  For holiday parties and gatherings, our Beef Tenderloin Bites make exquisite passed hors d'oeuvres.  For a simple weeknight supper, you can pair them with a garden salad to make an elegant meal with very little effort.

We're selling each seven ounce box of eight Beef Tenderloin Bites for $4.49.  You'll find them in our freezers.
