Fully Cooked Carnitas

Pork Carnitas

October 7th—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.

This has been one of our favorite products since the first time it was presented to our tasting panel.  And it quickly became a customer favorite, too!  Trader José's Carnitas is similar to the carnitas you'll find in Mexican restaurants, albeit with a couple of differences.  Difference numero uno: ours is slow-roasted rather than deep-fried.  So while we wouldn't call it a "diet food," it's likely better for the waistline than the carnitas you'll find in most restaurants, and we think it tastes just as good -- or better! Difference numero dos: you can have ours in your fridge ready to heat and serve in just minutes -- much easier and considerably less expensive than a trip to your favorite Mexican cantina.

Trader José's Carnitas is made with moist and tender citrus-marinated pork.  And it's so easy to prepare -- just remove the Carnitas from the package, place on a microwave-safe plate and heat in the microwave for two minutes.  Remove it, shred with two forks and return to the microwave for another minute or so.  It looks impressive on a plate surrounded by fresh cilantro and pico de gallo.  And, served with all the traditional accompaniments of Mexican cuisine, it's muy bueno.  Each 12 ounce package is a mere $4.99 -- a muy bueno value!
