Wild Caught Crab Meat
Long ago, someone thought it would be a good idea to cook crab. How did they know these spider-like ocean creatures would taste so wonderful? It’s up for debate, but luckily, someone did cook crab, and we are thankful.
An even better question: How on earth did they get the crab meat out of its shell without those tiny little forks we use now? We’re not sure about this one, either. We do know that you won’t need a fork to enjoy Trader Joe’s Wild Caught Crab Meat.
Our Crab Meat comes from blue swimming crabs caught in ocean waters off the coast of Indonesia. The meat is fully cooked and then hand-picked from the shell, eliminating the need for those specialized crab forks.
Included in the box is a combination of lump, backfin, and claw meat. And, that’s all. There’s nothing else added, which means there’s no whitener (often found in other crab meat on the market). You won’t find unwhitened, frozen Crab Meat like this anywhere else, but Trader Joe’s!
What is one to do with such sweet, fresh, flavorful, frozen Crab Meat? Easy: defrost and dig your claws right in. It’s also delightful in crab cakes, crab dip, crab salad, or crab soup. Or, make stuffing—for fish, Crimini mushrooms, or peppers. In other words, go crab crazy.
