Tulip Bulbs

January 30, 2017 in Category: What's New

With their straight stems, limited leaves, and showy blooms, tulips are one of the world’s favorite flowers. And because tulips are perennials that grow from bulbs, they are well suited for botanical magic. What kind of botanical magic, you ask? Behold, Trader Joe’s Tulip Bulbs...

These are specially selected, long-life Tulips; imported from Holland, and planted in a hydroponic glass vase, which allows you to watch them grow. Through the clear vase, you can plainly see the dark-colored bulbs with their many strands of pale roots that shoot down under the water like delicate pasta noodles.

When you take this vase home and place it indoors in a lighted area (in a cool location, out of direct sunlight and away from air-conditioners), you’ll begin to the see stems grow and flowers bloom—magically, right before your eyes!

For best results, you need only maintain the water level to just covering the roots (but not covering the bulbs). It’s also helpful if you turn the vase occasionally to encourage the stems to grow straight up, instead of in the direction of the light source.

Each vase has five Bulbs, yielding five vibrant flowers—all of the same color displayed on the label. Available colors include: yellow, white, pink, purple, red, and bi-colors. What would you expect to pay for such tulipular brilliance? More than our price of $8.99, we bet.
