Supersweet Dried Carabao Mango

February 13, 2017 in Category: What's New

Carabao is a variety of mango... but also a type of domestic water buffalo. Both can be found in the Philippines. One lives in swamps, and one grows on trees. One is the national animal of the Philippines... the other will be gracing our shelves in the form of Trader Joe’s Supersweet Dried Carabao Mango!

Our Dried Carabao Mango is special—and not just because it shares a name with a large bovid. It’s special because Carabaos are known as the sweetest mangoes in the world. This variety, grown only in the Philippines, is on the small side, with a curved and pointed end.

In addition to being extra sweet, Carabaos are also less fibrous, which makes them great for creating a dried snack. Once our Carabao mangoes are perfectly ripe, they are immediately cut into slices and dried. And, that’s about it! Because of their natural sweetness, we haven’t sweetened our Dried Carabao Mango one bit. In fact, there’s nothing in the bag but pure mango!

Perfectly sweet and perfectly dried, Trader Joe’s Supersweet Dried Carabao Mango makes snacking a cinch. Grab a bag to snack on throughout the day, or throw it in your backpack for hiking or biking. There’s really no wrong way to enjoy this dried fruit... and we think that’s pretty sweet!

Each five-ounce bag of Trader Joe’s Supersweet Dried Carabao Mango is only $3.99. Find it on the shelves with the rest of our dried fruit.
