Radio - Grand Blue Cheese

We’ve heard of the holiday season making some folks blue. This year, Trader Joe’s has a new blue hue to woo you.
This is Tara Miller of Trader Joe’s. We’re talking blue cheese of course. Specifically, Trader Joe’s Grand Blue Cheese. This is a special cheese we’ve brought in just for the holiday season. It hails from the Allgäu region in Bavaria, made from the incredibly rich milk of locally raised Swiss Brown cows.
On its way to becoming a truly Grand Blue cheese, this milk is combined with a special blend of three different Penicillium Roqueforti cultures. Over 48 hours, the cheese is prepared for aging, including 24 hours in a salt bath. It’s then double dipped in black wax, which is pierced, allowing air to reach the Roqueforti cultures. Over eight weeks, the cheese’s tangy flavor and beautiful blue veins develop.
Grand Blue is soft and creamy, a little salty, and blissfully buttery. The perfect blue to chase away the holiday blues. We’re selling Trader Joe’s Grand Blue Cheese for $12.99 a pound, while it lasts.
