Pizza as we know it has been around since the tenth century. Before that, ancient Romans enjoyed panis focacius, or what we call focaccia. Today, at Trader Joe’s, you can enjoy panis flatbreadius.

This is Tara Miller of Trader Joe’s. Panis flatbreadius translates to Trader Joe’s Burrata, Prosciutto & Arugula Flatbread. It’s a modern take on traditional fare, made just for us in the Italian town of Visso, deep in the mountains of Monte Sibillini National Park. The hand-stretched, brick-oven fired crust is topped with mascarpone garlic cream sauce and wild baby arugula, with mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Parmigiano Reggiano, and burrata cheeses. The finishing touch is thinly sliced prosciutto. You can add it on top before or after baking – we like to add it just after baking, so that it warms a bit but doesn’t cook.

You might think this extraordinary Flatbread would come with an extravagant price. Nope. We’re selling each 12 ounce Burrata, Prosciutto, & Arugula Flatbread for $4.99, every day. You’ll find it in our freezers.

Thanks for listening.
