Mango & Sticky Rice Spring Rolls

August 21, 2017 in Category: What's New

If you’re familiar with Thai cuisine, chances are you’ve enjoyed Mango & Sticky Rice as a dessert/palate cleanser at the end of a spicy meal. And spring rolls are nearly ubiquitous in restaurants throughout the U.S. But did it ever occur to you to pair the two? It’s okay if it didn’t – that’s why we’re here!

Trader Joe’s Mango & Sticky Rice Spring Rolls take these tastes from two ends of the meal to create a sweet treat that makes an excellent dessert or anytime snack. Rice from Northern Thailand is simmered with freshly-pressed coconut milk to make sweet, fragrant Thai sticky rice. Pieces of sweet Nam Dok Mai mangoes – Thailand’s most famous variety, known for their bountiful fragrance, ideal sweetness, and silky smooth texture – are added to the rice, and this superstar combination is wrapped in freshly-made spring roll wrappers.

To enjoy everything these Rolls have to offer, bake them for about ten minutes (or pan fry until golden and crispy), and you get a handheld way to indulge in one of Thailand’s most famous dishes, neatly wrapped in a flaky spring roll shell.

The size and shape of spring rolls is said to symbolize gold bars (and thus, wealth), but you don’t need to be wealthy to enjoy these. We’re selling each box of five Mango & Sticky Rice Spring Rolls for $2.99 (that’s about 60¢ each). You’ll find them in our freezers.
