When St. Patrick’s Day rolls around each year, we all pull out our green Hawaiian shirts and celebrate with the holiday’s traditional foods: corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, Irish soda bread, shepherd’s pie, stouts... And sausage. This staple of Irish cuisine is a must around March 17th, and Trader Joe’s Irish Bangers are perfect for the job.
Though Irish Bangers aren’t actually called “bangers” by the Irish, the rest of the world has adopted this moniker. No matter the word you use, these are true, classic, Irish-style sausages. They’re all-natural (minimally processed; no artificial ingredients), and the pork used was raised with no antibiotics or hormones—ever.
Our Bangers also contain 5% rusk—and this is the important ingredient. Rusk is a dry, twice-baked biscuit that is added to the pork to give it the traditional texture and flavor of an Irish sausage; white pepper, mace, ginger, sage, and a small amount of salt complete these Bangers.
