Hold The Cone!

August 17, 2017 in Category: Product Stories

Several years ago, we introduced Hold the Cone novelty ice cream treats. Mini cones filled with ice cream and crowned with chocolate, these cute cones quickly became favorites.

One day we had a thought – what if they could be better? If they were so loved in their original form, how much more love might they get if they even better? And how much even more love would come their way if they got that much better and didn’t get more expensive? Was it even possible? We had to try.

This story has a happy ending, especially if you’re shopping for ice cream treats on your next visit to Trader Joe’s.

Working with a longtime supplier in Orange County, California, we created a new version of Hold the Cone that features better, crispier cones; significantly higher quality ice cream (both Vanilla and Chocolate varieties), better chocolate coating both inside the cone and crowning the ice cream, and 33% more product in every box – still eight cones, but the net weight has increased from 5.9 ounces to 7.9 ounces. (Watch how they make it below.)

Even better, because the Cones are coming from the U.S., they’re delivered to us much faster than they were before, when they were being made in Germany, meaning they’re fresher than ever before. We always liked Hold the Cone; now we’re head over heels in love.

Our love affair continues to the price, which, unbelievably, has not increased at all. The italics are intentional. The previous incarnation was $2.99 for a box of eight. And this vastly improved version is also $2.99 for a box of eight.

Grab a box, Hold the Cone, and eat that cone – and maybe another while you’re at it. Find them in our freezers.
