Each year, when the olives are harvested on a select group of estate ranches in the Sierra foothills, a special blend of the first press of Arbequina olives is crafted to our exacting specifications. We're looking for flavor, color, and that almost indefinable wow factor. The fruit (pun intended) of this art-meets-science process becomes Trader Joe's California Estate Olive Oil, a fruity, smooth, slightly peppery, well-balanced extra virgin olive oil.
The olives on these California ranches are sustainably grown on trellises like wine grapes, and are 100% drip irrigated. This reduces water usage and also serves to enhance & intensify the natural flavor of the olives, and thus, the flavor of the oil. It's unfiltered, so some natural fruit sediment may settle at the bottom of the bottle. You can certainly use it for cooking, but its flavor is so vibrant it virtually screams to be used in fresh fashions. Drizzle over your favorite pasta (our Organic Spaghetti, is a good idea), or combine with our Dukkah Spice Blend and use the mixture as dip for your favorite warm, crusty bread.
We've long been fans of this exclusive Estate Olive Oil, and recently a major consumer publication (whose name we can't mention) agreed with us. We're selling a 500 ml (16.9 fluid ounces) bottle of Trader Joe's California Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil for $5.99—the same terrific price we've had for more than six years. We think you'll agree, too, that this is a terrific value, and one you'll find only at your neighborhood Trader Joe's.
