Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza

A while back, we took a look at the pizza section in our freezer case and came to the shocking realization that we didn't have a simple, delicious, classic pepperoni pizza. How could this be? We set off on a quest—perhaps not Tolkienian in nature, but a quest nonetheless. The challenge, quite frankly, was finding just the right pepperoni. You see, most pepperoni are cured using chemical preservatives like nitrates. We don't use those in our products. Once we found the perfect uncured, preservative-free pepperoni, our quest was nearly complete.
We decided to give our take on the pepperoni pizza a Chicago feel, so the result is Trader Joe's Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza. In true Chicago style, this is a deep crust, about two inches tall. It's filled with savory red sauce and a blend of shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, and topped with thinly sliced pepperoni. Heat it in your oven for about 20 minutes for perfect pizza, every time. You can certainly pick up a slice and eat it the way you'd eat thin crust pizza. You may also choose to use a knife and fork, if neatness is on your pizza eating agenda.
