A Taste Of India In Your Hand
A Kati Roll is a common Indian street food that's gone global—once served primarily from food carts in Calcutta, they're now served in restaurants and homes around India and around the world. Kati Rolls are more or less rolled sandwiches—start with your favorite Indian dish and wrap it in your favorite Indian flatbread and voila! Kati Roll.
We've put a Trader Joe's twist on this traditional treat—we started with one of our favorite Indian dishes—Aloo Chaat—and stuffed it inside a pastry pouch, transforming the simple roll into something more akin to a turnover. Trader Joe's Aloo Chaat Kati Pouches are crispy pastry shells filled with Aloo Chaat, a blend of potatoes, chick peas, chaat masala (an Indian spice blend), and a sweet-tangy tamarind chutney. The pouches are easy to hold in your hand, and they heat in the microwave in less than five minutes (you can bake them in a conventional oven, if you prefer). While you may have seen "meals in a pocket" in other stores, you've probably never had one with this flavor profile! We're selling each eight ounce box of two Aloo Chaat Kati Pouches for $2.29, a value you probably haven't seen elsewhere, either.
