Ga-Ga for Gorgonzola

Gorgonzola is a rich, creamy ivory-colored cow's milk cheese streaked with blue/green veins, with an earthy, slightly pungent flavor. If you like creamy blue cheeses, we think you'll love Trader Joe's Gorgonzola, made for us by Wisconsin cheesemakers who specialize in Italian-style cheeses. This cheese is carefully crafted, then repeatedly washed by hand, pierced with small holes, and hand-placed in special caves for three months of aging. This careful and complex aging process encourages the growth of the beneficial blue-green mold that gives our Gorgonzola its signature flavor and aroma.

Gorgonzola is excellent on salads or in dressings and sauces for chicken, pasta or steak. You can spread it on a baguette and serve with walnuts and sliced pears for a quick, elegant appetizer. It also melts beautifully, making it easy to pair with burgers, pizza or sandwiches.

We're selling Trader Joe's Gorgonzola in random weight pieces of about 7.5 ounces for $5.99 a pound, an excellent everyday price for this excellent 90-day aged cheese.
