Trader Joe's Goat Gouda is an artisan-made cheese crafted in Holland, the ancestral home of Gouda. The milk comes from goats that graze the Dutch polder, fertile grasslands that abut the sea. This diet results in milk that's a bit less tangy than most goats' milk, and gives the cheese a smooth, mild flavor. Aging the cheese for 90 days brings out its rich nuttiness and creates a complex texture that's somewhere between semi-soft and hard. If you're lucky, you'll find a bit of crystallization in every bite.
This aged Goat Gouda delivers a deliciously smooth Gouda experience. It's a terrific snacking cheese, and will deliver a new dimension to your holiday cheese platter. We're selling it for $8.49 a pound, 50¢ a pound less than it was the last time we advertised it, in mid-2011,
delivering a smooth experience at the cash register as well.
